Ericsson returns with a silent 5G upgrade for Windows 11 that keeps enterprise users always connected without the hassle.
Ericsson is not a name we hear in consumer spaces anymore, because the company is now heavily involved in building 5G connectivity services and associated hardware. The fruits of those effort are now ready to reach Microsoft Surface PCs because the company has launched a 5G solution for enterprise customers, in partnership with Microsoft.
Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect has been validated by Microsoft for enteprirse users leveraging 5G Surface devices on the go. This solution is capable of automatically connecting to the best available 5G network, both on the private and public cloud, while being invisible to the user. Since all of this happens in the background, customers don’t need to worry about troubleshooting and diagnosing network issues at all. This implementation also works well as it doesn’t depend upon a single carrier or a particular SIM, it is interoperable across Ericsson’s partner ecosystem.
It is worth noting that cellular connectivity managed by organizations is already a native Windows 11 feature that offers integration with Intune. Working in tandem with Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect, IT admins can ensure that their eSIM provisioning and network connectivity policies are fine-tuned to ensure that users are always connected as they utilize their 5G-capable Surface PCs.
As expected, Microsoft and Ericsson have taken this opportunity to push the “AI PC” narrative as well, with the latter’s Chief Technology Officer Erik Ekudden noting that:
